Schedule an Appointment TodayThe No Surprises Act is a federal law enacted to protect patients from unexpected medical bills and to address payment disputes between healthcare providers and insurance plans.
Under the No Surprises Act, out-of-network providers cannot send patients surprise balance bills for emergency treatment or for out-of-network care provided at an in-network hospital. Instead, patients can only be charged their regular in-network cost-sharing amounts. The Act restricts many instances of surprise medical bills from out-of-network providers, especially during emergencies or when care is provided at an in-network facility.
The Act aims to limit the amount patients pay out of pocket to a level closer to what they would pay if the healthcare provider were in-network. It defines this limit using a recognized market amount or qualifying figure, such as the average fee for the service. In addition to protecting patients from surprise bills, the No Surprises Act also mandates transparency regarding healthcare costs. Patients are held liable for in-network cost-sharing amounts only. Remember that this legislation is designed to enhance patient protection and promote fairness in healthcare billing practices.
Please contact our office for a customized estimate for services requested.
A good faith estimate is a list of expected charges for health care items and services that you can request or receive when scheduling care or prior to your services starting. A good faith estimate provides an overview of the anticipated costs associated with your health care. It helps you understand what to expect before receiving services. A good faith estimate is given if you’re not using health insurance to pay for your care; your health care provider will give you a good faith estimate if you request one or schedule services in advance.
The estimate includes expected charges for scheduled health care items and services, such as session fees or assessments provided by the provider or facility. The estimate will specify details and expected charges related to your care. You can receive the estimate either printed on paper or via email. The estimate will not include services provided outside of your provider or the facility or unexpected costs that your clinician didn’t anticipate.
You’ll receive a good faith estimate if you schedule an appointment at least 3 business days in advance. If scheduling 0-2 business days prior to an appointment there is no entitlement to an estimate. If scheduling 3-9 business days prior to an appointment, your estimate will be provided within 1 business day. If scheduling 10 or more business days prior to an appointment, your estimate will be provided within 3 business days.
A good faith estimate may be helpful if you need to dispute your bill. Without an estimate, disputing the bill can be challenging. Remember, a good faith estimate helps you make informed decisions about your health care costs and ensures transparency in billing practice.
At Restorative Peace you can expect your estimate to be between $150-$275 per person/per session over the course of 12-48 sessions spread weekly, biweekly, or monthly.
